--Cube: The only mobile device you will ever need.-- This is very smart. I like how it's a group of 5 in relation to the seating of the Cube. Now think about where this contest will live. Of course it will have a microsite where people can sign-up for the contest (Phase 1-Prelaunch) and then once the contestants are chosen you can tune into their cube via webcam (Phase 2-Launch). Will you have several cubes around the U.S. that you can tune into? Maybe a cube channel for each one? Would be fun to tune into the cubes to see how the contestants are doing.
Think about the challenge more. Are they given cell phones and Sony PSPs? Basically given all of the digital luxuries that they are accustomed to. Then the first one who cracks gets tossed out. Let's say there are 5 cubes around the US. When one person is remaining in each cube it turns to a championship series where those 5 remaining contestants are put inside another cube. Maybe this final showdown takes place on a stage? Or is a major event somewhere.
Keep working on this and bring in sketches of all of the touchpoints. For instance the microsite. Show a sketch of what the cube contest would look like in NYC. Is it an enclosed glass box that the cube is in? Here is a list of what to think about.
1. Traffic drivers (How do you find out about the event? Online ads take you to the microsite?) 2. What does the microsite look like? What are the features? What does the cube channel look like? 3. Can the public send messages to the contestant's phones to tease and egg them on?
You guys probably know just what to do:-)
--3D Projection-- Maybe the 3D projector broadcasts the webcams from the cube contest?
--APP Freakout-- I love this. How can you keep the basic idea but inject the contest into it? Maybe it is a communicator app so you can have a direct line to the contestants? I love how the app icons make up the cube.
--Cube everywhere-- I really like this idea. Bring in some mock-ups of things that have been "cubed". This doesn't fit with your contest idea but it could be a phase 3 campaign after your contest ends.
Good job guys! Keep going flushing these ideas out and see where you get by Wed. Use the board examples in Round 2 on our class download page as examples of simple idea mock-ups.
