Without advertising, we wouldn't get to see each other every week for 15 weeks.

Adriana helps you find your color.

Another instructor mentioned this app and it's pretty handy for testing and finding color schemes.

Fresh work from Adriana.

The animation at the end is cool, and the content in the videos is super interesting.

I love playing with the wires just pushing them around is fun ^ - ^

Real time interaction from all over the US, this idea is brilliant.

Absolutely interesting

Our resident PC user, AngeLin, explores the new Explorer.

Some new technology I'd like to share with the class:

I'm a Firefox fan, but the new Internet Explorer 8 is pretty nifty!
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/tour/default.aspx

Now, you can highlight words on any website, right-click and it opens up a menu allowing you to easily look up that word on dictionary.com, Google map you to that location, find reviews about that word on Yelp.com, etc. There are a bunch of add-ons you can download for free to personalize your IE8 quick links. It makes everything pretty convenient. Now you don't have to open up a new tab or window in order to use those applications. It's one simple click away. -AngeLin

Notice the heavy use of social networking sites such as Twitter and YouTube. No doubt a nod to Obama's "digital election". Buckle-up folks, politics will be won and fought with pixels from here on out. -Jon

Shravan shows his true Colors and a site for Watchmen

Here is a pre-release 'Watchmen' interactive microsite called - "6 minutes to midnight". Its an immersive experience in which you can interact via phone.

The 'Colours Magazine' come out with new, really well designed flash sites with every issue.
"Colors magazine is a multilingual quarterly magazine developed in Italy. Each issue has a theme and covers the topic from an international perspective.
The magazine is known for its photoessays and features a sardonic point of view (similar to Benetton advertising)." - Wiki.

What i like most is that every site is designed for every issue of the magazine - with a lot of attention to detail in both aspects - design & research.

Here are the links to a few sites:

1) Fear: http://www.colorsmagazine.com/cease-fear/

2) Money: http://www.colorsmagazine.com/money/

3) Food: http://www.benetton.com/colors/issues/food54/colors54/colors54.html

Another website I love. Very cute, simple design that fits their style. I love how their content is displayed differently every link. It's very simple, but very effective.

Chuck talks art.

On Thursday, the man himself talked to SFMOMA staff about the future of the museum.

Why do Charles Schwab use Rotoscoping in their TV spots?

It's a great question.

One reason i like it is that i can identify with the people in the spots when they are not real. To a certain extent i think using actual film of people distracts the consumer and makes it harder to imagine yourself in their shoes.

I noticed that i didn't see any ideas from the class that used Rotoscoping. It's definitely something to consider. It's part of the Talk to Chuck brand and icreases the chances of your ideas being bought. I encourage you guys to use Rotoscoping in an ideas where you project or show people in video. -Jon

Technology that wasn't around 5 years ago.

Invisible Homeless Man from Adriana. Think Future Lions.

Spring Show Submission Guidelines

All interactive/digital entries must be submitted as a demo. Unfortunately work will be shown on a TV instead of on a computer as in years past. However, this does not mean that all of your hard work making your stuff interactive was a waste of time. You still want to show interactive versions on your portfolio site.

So, what's a demo and how do you make one?

Think of a demo as a movie of your microsite or banner automatically playing through.

Here's an example from a student of mine from last semester:

http://www.copyrightnickrodgers.com/obama/obamania.html
(Click on the slate icon on the right)

Nick used this application to record his demo. It's free:
